PE lessons with Mr.Xavi

Year Five really enjoy PE lessons with Mr Xavi where they concentrate on developing individual and teamwork skills

Year 5 have been thinking about who we are now and who we might be in the future?

We have made booklets predicting how we think our individual identities will change during our lifetimes. We shall share these with parents later in the term

Every week Year 5 visit the library, browse the books and choose two which they may like to borrow.

We keep a careful check of who borrows which books on our library database

Year 5 have chosen two representatives to help with our Wai Kru/Teachers Day Assembly in a few weeks. Congratulations to Kevin and Liew Liew

Year 5 Assembly

On Thursday 12th September Y5 will be leading a PY assembly in our classroom. While this is not a polished perfomace, Y5 parents may wish to join our audience if you are free at 8.25 am. Children can wear their own clothes for the assembly. Our theme is PERSONAL IDENTITY.  Below is a song we will use. Please encourage your child to learn the words and actions.

Maths for Y5 this week has had a focus on multiplication and division. Some learners are working on basic multiplication facts by repetition and specific levelled games. Other learners have moved onto higher-level skills dealing with 2 and 3 digit multiplication problems and division by working in groups and small group work with Ms. Sanook E. or Ms. Emmi to help enhance their knowledge. We will continue this focus into next week before assessing their personal goal or I can statement.

Homework for next week will be personalised and will go home on Monday for additional practice at home. For those who are working on their multiplication set to 12 this should be done nightly until all 0-12 multiplication and division facts are known. Please help encourage this nightly practice.

Home Learning from Mr. John
Reading
This is the most important part of our homework. Reading levels have been assessed and children are bringing home individal reading books. It is an expectation that children read regularly with an adult. The children will receive a record sheet for the adult to sign (and comment if they wish) when they have heard a child read. Do read regularly, and please note the children can change their book whenever they need to. Please sign the reading record sheet when your child has read. Your child now has a plastic reading folder to heep their book and record sheet safe.

Spelling

Here are our third spelling lists. Please let your child choose the list that they wish to learn. An important part of this process is making sure that children know what the word means and using it in a sentence that they can explain to the teacher Children please choose the word list that best fits your learning. You have one week to learn your spellingsand use the word in a sentence. Choose only ONE list! The test will be on Friday.
