Week Beginning 20th April 2020

Our first week of term 3 is now complete. I hope you are finding our daily communications helpful. Our aim is to put as much as possible in one place to make information easily accessible to all. Next week, the children will be organising student lead conferences when they will share their learning with you.

For enjoyment, with an educational value too, here is a link to the first episode of a ten part BBC series produced for children called 'The King's Dragon.' Happy watching Year 5... I know you have been waiting for this.

Here are some snapshots of our online learning. You may notice that groups sometimes welcome special visitors

A special request!
Each week I should like to add some photograph of children working at home or doing something interesting to fill their time at home. Please send them to Mr John or Ms Sanuk'

New Week's learning from Ms Emmi

For Maths, this is a continuation of this week learning
  • I can identify multiples and factors, including finding all factor pairs of a number, and common factors of two numbers.
  • I can know and use the vocabulary of prime numbers, prime factors and composite (non-prime) numbers.
  • I can establish whether a number up to 100 is prime and recall prime numbers up to 19.

This week in Maths, Y5 this week has been working on finding factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers. We have been able to do this by watching videos made by me and a youtube link as a good lesson prep. During our lesson time online we spend time explaining the vocabulary to better understand what it means to find factors of numbers, what makes a number prime or composite.
Learners have the opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of these concepts by practising them during our time together in small online groups. Proud of the progress that the learners are making learning the vocabulary and investigating new concepts of whole numbers.
