On Monday we celebrated Loy Kratong at UDIS. Many students and staff wore traditional Thai costume for the event.
Here we are just after the Loy Kratong Assembly had ended
All children participated in Kratong making
As far as possible, we tried to use eco friendly materials
Completed kratongs ready to float
Science
We have been carrying out an experiment this week and using thermometers to measure water temperatures. We are also learning about how to make a scientific test fair by changing only one variable at a time.
We needed someone to check the water level, take the temperature, keep note of the time and record the results
It was important for each group to work in exactly the same way.
This activity involved working together as a team.
We will shortly be starting our preparations for our Christmas show. It is likely that Year 5 will be present the traditional song entitled The 12 Days of Christmas. We have included a You Tube video so your child can begin to practise, especially if the song is unfamiliar to them.
I shall confirm soon, but costumes are likely to be anything Christmassy. I am hoping parents will be able to find things already at home, or buy items locally without great expense.
Here are the spellings for this week. Take care, they are starting to become more challenging.
Maths
In Mathematics, the children are learning about measurement. Here the bookcase is being measured with a tape measure.
These children are measuring the whiteboard with a metre stick
