Our last week of term 1

We have reached the end of term one and I should like to thank parents for your help and support. I hope everyone has a restful break, whether you are travelling, or staying in Udon.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas performance last night. I was really proud of your children. They thought of the Udon gifts themselves and I think they succeeded in taking a traditional song and giving it a local Isaan twist.

 and

On Thursday, Rainer and Liew Liew talked in the PY assembly about the storytelling ECA that I led this term.

On Wednesday, we were very pleased to welcome so many parents, teachers and students to our Learning Showcase about famous explorers. I really liked the independence shown by the students in the creation of, and the manner in which they shared their slide presentations.

Reading! Reading! Reading!

There is no formal homework set for the holidays but I encourage parents to ensure that their children read as often as possible to keep their skills sharp. Why not visit a bookstore together and let your child choose some books that excite them?

Next Term, in Maths, we will start with angles which will contain a lot of vocabulary to enhance their speaking and cognitive skills as we continue with our measurement unit.

  • Know angles are measured in degrees: estimate and compare acute, obtuse and reflex angles.
  • Draw given angles, and measure them in degrees (°).
  • Identify: angles at a point and one whole turn (total 360°), angles at a point on a straight line and half a turn (total 180°), other multiples of 90°
